Yamada DVR-8000 playback issues?

I`ve got a Yamada DVR-8000 and up to now its been great with recording DVD`s that I`ve been playing back on standalone DVD players. However I recently tried to playback a DVD on two PC`s and only the title menu could be viewed, on trying to play a title from the menu nothing happens. Can anyone tell me what`s going on?? I`ve been using Packard Bell DVD+RW`s and Bulkpaq +R`s. Is it a media issue or a player issue?? Maybe there`s something I`ve not set right on the recorder??

Yamada DVR-8000

Well after thinking about buying the Eurotech DVR-4001, I eventually plumped for the Yamada DVR-8000. The recorder seems fine, just one query I can`t find the answer too (and I`ve had the same query before with budget players as opposed to recorders) does anyone know if the Yamada supports auto-widescreen switching?

RE: Eurotech DVR-4001

Yep that is it. The addition of firewire seems quite useful too.

Eurotech DVR-4001

Anyone have any experience of using this recorder? I`m thinking about purchasing one but before I do I`d like to know whether its progressive scan and can be made region free. Any ideas?

Medion MD40288 DVD Auto-widescreen switching problem

I`ve just purchased a Medion MD40288 DVD player and hooked it up to my TV. DVD`s do play through the system, however the player does not seem to be widescreen auto switching. Any ideas?

In the players menu system, I`ve selected PAL, RGB and widescreen. Is there any kind of system reset, or other handy knack that might help me out? I`m guessing that the DVD player could be duff and not alternating the voltage through the SCART cable. (I have tried multiple SCART cables too).
