Review of Baby One More Time: Karaoke

    1 / 10

    Introduction

Be warned, this programme does not include any performance by Britney Spears, that`s what it says on the box and I can definitely confirm, there aint no Britney singing on this disk!!

45 minutes, 10 songs (!) and a large selection of fabulous Britney photographs......

    Video

A 4:3 picture that is basically pretty awful.

When the disk is playing the viewer is treated to a slideshow of pictures of Britney. These pictures are terrible, there is no other way to put it. They are grainy and look as though they have been blown up (literally) from normal 35mm film developed at your local 1 hour shop.

The lyrics to the songs are presented along the bottom of the image inside a rather fetching visual effect, which looks like someone has taken steel wool to the negative.

    Audio

You get a backing track of music, which is worse than the original, in Dolby 2.0.

Occasionally there is also singing from a backing singer, which from the atrocious singing voice can only be there to make you sing louder to drown it out.

    Features

The box says the special features include interactive menus, scene access, dolby digital 2.0 and aspect ratio 4:3.

Someones having a bit of fun aren`t they?

    Conclusion

This disk is an essay in tedium. Alright, I don`t really enjoy karaoke disks, I find it`s much better in a crowded public house with several pints on board, so this may appeal more to people with a couple of teeny boppers in the house.

But still, it must be possible to produce a better product than this? One particular annoyance is that there is no bouncing dot the words your supposed to be singing, which cause the choir in this office to give a very mediocre performance of Born to Make You Happy! There is supposed to be a colour variation over the text with the steel wool background, but certainly on my computer monitor it was not easy to spot and was only slightly better on the TV.

Now, where is that Singalong-A-Max DVD?
