Review of Page And Plant: No Quarter Unledded

    4 / 10

    Introduction

    Unledded
This was filmed in 1994, 14 years after the dissolution of Led Zeppelin, it features guitarist Jimmy Page and vocalist Robert Plant reunited.

They perform seventeen tracks in a variety of locations including Marrakech, Morocco, Snowdonia as well as studio segments filmed at the London Weekend Television Studios. The mixture of acoustic and electric tracks, including the classics Kashmir, Gallows Pole and When the Levee Breaks were premiered on MTV on the 12 October 1994.

In addition to the live performance footage the DVD includes the extra track Black Dog which was filmed at the American Music Awards, the bonus video `Most High`, a 13 minute interview with Plant & Page and a montage of footage from Morocco.

Tracks included are; No Quarter, Thank You, What Is And What Should Never Be, The Battle of Evermore, Gallows Pole, Nobody`s Fault But Mine, City Don`t Cry, The Truth Explodes, Wah Wah, When The Levee Breaks, Wonderful One, Since I`ve Been Loving You, The Rain Song, That`s The Way, Four Sticks, Friends, Kashmir,- bonus track: Black Dog,- bonus video: Most High.

    Video

This is presented in full screen and on occasions looks like a travelogue of Morocco and other places. It is interspersed with helicopter shots that wouldn`t look out of place in The Monarch of the Glen.

    Audio

The concert and Black Dog are in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound, DTS, Dolby and Digital Stereo, Most High, interview and montage are in Dolby Digital Stereo.

The sound reproduction is very good indeed and gets excellent use out of all the speakers.

    Features

Bonus track - `Black Dog` filmed at the American Music Awards.

Bonus video - `Most High` I`ll have what he`s having as they say.

Interviews with Page and Plant. Montage of behind the scenes footage from Morocco.

    Conclusion

This is really one for the fans of these two artists as I found the music obscure and unattractive to my ears. The sound reproduction is excellent but the film that accompanies it is very dull.No offense.

Having no knowledge of Led Zeppelin made this a particularly difficult review to consider and I think it is fair to say that this DVD does not inspire me into purchasing any other items by the band. Stairway to Heaven is the only track I know and the only track I would chose to listen to as long as it wasn`t the Rolf Harris version.

There are a reasonable amount of tracks, the sound reproduction is superb it is down to the interested parties to judge if they want to add this to their collection.
