Review for WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs 2011

3 / 10

TLC is another one of those WWE 'themed' PPVs that seem to forget what the stipulation is for. The ladder match is meant to be about wanting to reach a title or a contract or ownership of something. I just don't understand how WWE think they can just have these PPVs without building any of the stipulations up and because of that we once again have a weak PPV... this one is even weaker than most of them...
WWE United States Championship
Dolph Ziggler vs. Zack Ryder
A decent mid card match and at least it made me feel that WWE remembered they had the US belt. This was fine in general, but I feel that it was a missed opportunity and maybe with a stipulation they could have made this more exciting.

WWE Tag Team Championship
Air Boom vs. Epico and Primo
This is probably as good a tag match as I'm going to get. Both teams work really well together and at times it felt like an old skool match, but not given enough time for me to care.

Tables Match
Randy Orton vs Wade Barrett
Why were these two fighting again? What did the tables mean? I'm not a huge fan of the tables match unless it's the Dudleys doing it. This was fine in general, but not exactly a match I will remember.

WWE Divas Championship
Beth Phoenix vs Kelly Kelly
Cut and paste every negative comment I have made the past two years about divas matches... they all belong here. Boring, useless match... though Kelly looked hot.

Sledgehammer Ladder Match
Triple H vs Kevin Nash
I don't know what to say. I mean it was ok and for these two it was a good match (especially for Nash), but I just felt that this just wasted time that could have been given to someone else. Not a match I'd watch again.

Sheamus vs Jack Swagger
Why are these two fighting? This reminded me of when Ultimate Warrior would face Barbarian or Warlord. Just lumbering nonsense that I could not get excited by.

Chairs Match for World Heavyweight Championship
Mark Henry vs Big Show
Too short. It is hard to sell me a match under ten minutes. I just don't buy it unless it was done because of what happened afterwards which was a huge shock and an amazing moment.

Intercontinental Championship
Cody Rhodes vs Booker T
An interesting idea and Booker proved he could still go. Just not sure what the whole point of it was.

Triple Threat TLC Match for WWE Championship
CM Punk vs The Miz vs Alberto del Rio
Finally CM Punk save me from all this. And you know usually a match involving Del Rio would bore me to death, but this was well paced and was actually given enough time for me to care about it. I was shocked by the ending and though I knew how it was going to end I was still shocked and that is the mark of a great match.

TLC 2011 was an awful PPV saved by a decent main event and a shocking surprise. It is such a strange thing to be able to recommend so little from a PPV. I watched the whole thing waiting to be enthralled and enjoy myself and I didn't in the slightest. Sadly, this is not a PPV that I would recommend in the slightest.
