Review of Corrs, The: Live At The Albert Hall

    7 / 10

    Introduction

After being delighted by the quality of the "Unplugged" Corrs DVD, I decided to purchase what was at the time the only other available Corrs DVD - "Live at the Albert Hall".

This concert was filmed in 1999 at the Royal Albert Hall in London on St Patricks Day and includes a guest appearance by Mick Fleetwood.

The track listing is broadly similar to those on "Unplugged" but obviously the concert music is very different to the "Unplugged" sound.

    Video

Video comes in 4:3 full-frame and although an anamorphic widescreen transfer would have been better on my 16:9 television, the video quality is good throughout.

Visually, this is standard concert footage, but The Corrs do have presence on stage, helped of course by the three beautiful sisters.

    Audio

Audio comes in Dolby Digital 5.1 and is, like the video, of very good quality.

Concerts are always difficult to reproduce properly in a living room, but the sound mix is pretty good, with the music and vocals all sounding very nice and utilising all channels.

Musically, as with other Corrs productions, the content is very good with some excellent songs on offer. Mick Fleetwood plays on three of the tracks (Dreams, Haste to the Wedding and Toss The Feathers).

    Features

As usual with music releases, there is nothing in the way of extras.

The DVD is packaged in a super jewel case and includes an insert with some photographs and background information.

    Conclusion

Overall, "The Corrs: Live at the Albert Hall" is a very good DVD. Whilst I didn`t enjoy it quite as much as "Unplugged", it`s still one of the best music DVDs that I have and gets replayed every so often.

A good track listing and good performances of all the songs are backed up by good sound and video. The lack of extras doesn`t detract from the quality of the product.

    Recommended.
