Yeah, cos that's just what Liverpool need, a striker who can't score.....

i thought this was an interesting excuse....
" Liverpool to dig up Anfield pitch because it is 'hindering the team’s passing game'
Brendan Rodgers is unhappy with the playing surface, which he says makes it difficult to play one-touch football"

Gerrard leaving this Summer:

Considering the years of loyalty he's given, I think the least he deserves is an easier wind down at LA Galaxy. :)

Maybe he will go on loan to United :)

Wish him well on semi retirement to MLS but you just know he's now going to be known as Gerrard who-is-leaving-in-summer in every sodding commentary until he's gone.

Very true Snaps, However Gerrard has been on the decline for several seasons and as much as I hate to say it but this could be the kick up the arse that Liverpool FC need.
The club have relied on him for so many years to the point that he still wants to be the hero but the body cannot deliver like it used to, Great example is last season against Chelsea (the famous slip) after the mistake every time he got the ball he was in the roy of the rovers mode (shoot from anywhere) instead of passing to a team mate.
He will be missed but a nice golden handshake is well deserved.
Good Luck Stevie

You could argue the same for Thierry's last season with us. The team needed him to leave to move on. Unfortunately the moving on didn't do the trick and yes I was one of those with a huge smile when he came back for the cameo appearance.
I'd mark the 2nd January down in your calendar as the media have decreed from this year hence it will always be know as St Steven's day.

An absolute legend for the club. Player with far more mediocre players then any of the greats too and carried the weight of the club far too often. Had an amazing season last year too actually (highest goals and assists for a while).
Refused many offers over the years - even during the long years where Liverpool couldn't even offer Champion's League footie.
Amazing, amazing player who got us out of so many difficult spots and scored so many crucial goals. Won it all apart from the league.
I wish him well wherever that may be (USA I feel) and hope to see him back at the club that means so much to him and me.
