Difficult to say just how many things Rodgers got wrong there - but it was pretty much everything.  Line-up, formationS, subs.  Everything.
We needed a goal and he has two strikers on the bench (that initially consisted of 3 strikers and zero midfielders) that he bought - and he brings on a right back who's leaving in a month.  Who is s***.
Terrible.  Villa thoroughly deserved winners.

It's the usual problem with Rodgers he either gets it right or completely fecking wrong.
I do admire the guy most of the time as he given promising youngsters a chance and has more often than not got it right, However some of his purchases/selections have to be questioned at times.

Without wishing to intrude on private grief.
Does Rodgers stay or go?
Has/will John Henry be phoning Klopp and would you like him to?

Personally I think he should stay, I'm not sure who handles the transfers but if it is Rodgers then I think the club needs too address that before the next transfer window as we need to strengthen the squad not bolster it with average players.

Your problem's going to be no European cup and an unproven manager. So you'll have to hope that whoever handles the transfers has a very good eye for budding talent and the bargaining ability not to pay too much for too little.

Not that he'll even be interested but if Liverpool aren't even talking to Klopp, that'd be bordering on negligence for me.  Another abyssmal performance - way worse than WBA and Villa before it.
I'm not calling for Rodgers to just be sacked - but given the choice of him being replaced by Klopp I'd grab it with both hands.  Opportunities like him or anyone of his stature possibly even being available come about so rarely - and most clubs, under most other circumstances would love him.  The timing, other than possibly for Man City, is perfect.  Chelsea are happy, things are clicking at Utd, Arsenal it's probably a couple of years early maybe(?) - but all these clubs would love him at almost any other time.
Finishing in the top 4, reaching the knockout stages of the CL and a trophy were all targets for this year....  While we had a great run after Christmas we've been left wanting badly in the big, decisive games.

I say this with only a hint of sarcasm but maybe you are winning the race to avoid Europa league.
Yes you had a fit Sturridge and arguably the third best striker in the world but second last season was no mean achievement. How much do you really want potentially an extra half season with a squad that already looks to thin for the Prem season alone.

We did amazing last year no doubt.  For me, we would not have finished as high as second with either of the two strikers, Suarez was on another level and created so many goals, directly and indirectly, with his work rate and attitude.
I really don't want Europa next season (although we were abysmal in that when we dropped into it this season).  Villa winning the FA Cup may well be the thing that helps us avoid Europa next season...   They really need to look at the amount of games you play in that competition.

Maybe that's Rodgers plan, Avoid European football and challenge for the premiership instead like last season

Going to be hard to do that I think, it's not easy attracting players when you aren't in the Champions League.

This week's Tuesday Club podcast had them talking about how Chelsea are winning the league because Mourinhio is great at grinding out "tactical victories" when he isn't up against teams which aren't head and shoulders above his own.
I think Arsenal are perhaps just two players away from that, if we had a lethal striker like Suarez on the pitch. Hopefully they won't collapse near the end of the season and can attract one.
