France Vs England

Fowler9 (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 27th March 2008, 08:56

How abject a performance was that ?? (from both sides)

Few things on the formation and tactics of england

1) Does anyone think Rooney can play the lone man up front? Given his desire to drop off to pick up the ball and make things happen I really just dont think he fits that 4-2-3-1 formation Capello seems to like

2) Given Rooney likes to drop deep and even if he doesnt he`s hardly mr target man and given that the right and left sides of the "3" in the formation need to get up and back with pace and energy why was Beckham used in that role?
He doesnt have the pace and i;m not sure he looked quite fit enough either but with Rooney as the guy up front it nulified Beckham`s one strength of crossing the ball as he had no one to aim at anyways

3) Whilst he does a decent job I still cant believe there arent better right back options then Wes Brown. I mean Micah Richards had a few really good games there I thought and now he doesnt even seem to get a mention

4) Does anyone think we have the players in this country to make the Italian system work or do we need to stick to 4 - 4 - 2??

Pointless talking about the National side anymore

We will never win a major tournamnet again as it`s club over country

Now that Beckham has reached the 100th cap milestone he should retire from international football

Beckham was the one international player who should have been on the pitch last night, everyone elses performance would be, at best, equal & the rest lower. If Wally we Brolly had picked him in the beginning we would be in Europe this Summer. There will come a time when Beckham can`t play international football, but it`s not now. I wonder if the same can be said of some of t`others on pitch last night.

its also said to be the highest form of intelligence - but whats your point?? Infact no I dont care what your point is I have little desire to enter into a debate with you over it I;d rather talk about other stuff - hence why I started the thread

my comment was because I cant be asked with you at the moment. I was starting a thread to actually try stimulate some discussion on things regarding the england team and how they set up last night.
Seems you just want to carry on your beckham love in with blinkers on and slag off everyone else. I dont want to be doing that.
If you dont want or have no interest in the things I raised then thats fine, just dont bother posting, or if you do just be as upfront as kebabhead and say as much

Drink too much last night fowler9 of the high intelligence, but can`t grasp a point, of anti Manchester United bias which David Beckham come into. I was debating & the papers seem to agree. They also said of wonder dive Stevie G that he wasn`t so `wonderful`.

I dont drink and I really dont think my intelligence is that far in question.
If you dont know the whole of a phrase then dont use it all

where exactly did I discuss anything which had an "anti united bias" (nice to see you reverting to your usual rediculous claims again)??
I didnt ergo no point to grasp

The question I posed was one of why beckham was used in the role he was within the formation Capello chose given that neither suited his strengths or helped to negate his weaknesses.
I never remotely questioned whether he should or should not have been on the pitch or whether he played well or not as I had no desire to discuss it but i did fancy a discussion regarding tactics and team selection based on tactics. That can encompass united, liverpool, chelsea, blackburn players whomever i couldnt give a stuff.

Surely if your the person claiming the team should be built around Beckham you should give your team first, maybe highlighting a couple of the advantages of your selection?

FYI Raul who`s in the best form he`s been in for a good 7/8 years, won`t get a sniff in the Spain squad at the moment, and is pretty much confirmed not to play in the Euro`s this summer. The reason being he doesn`t fit the formation the manager wants to play with the other players at his disposal.
