No, David Jason's fine but my old Dell Dimension 500 ain't.
Press button and nothing, no lights, no noises, nothing. Complete brick mode.
I'm guessing a dead PSU but a couple of Googles later and it seems Dell PSU's may have different connections and may not even be a standard size.
Anyone have any more knowledge about this? Including replacement costs.
Quite capable of putting a new unit in if it's economically possible.

500ish
I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary
Dell use the same product "Name" over a range of models over a range of years, a specific product number & year of production would help narrow down a ebay seach with those parameters or even with the FRU\CRU (Field Replacement Unit or Customer Replacement Unit) from the power supply itself.

Never has so little had to be explained by me to so many so often.
as above eBay will be your best bet, but make sure it's right, direct from Dell will be stupidly expensive.
Used to annoy me at my old work place the fact they'd use the same model number for different PCs :( you'd have say 2 dead GX280s, so you'd take them apart to mix and match to get 1 working PC, but they'd have differewnt (non standard) PSU connectors etc :(
It's alive!
New PSU installed and it's resurrection day.
Despite the horror stories of non standard connectors in Dell machines. Mine must fall outside the window when they were using them.
Twenty quid. Could have been fifteen but I didn't fancy driving half an hour each way to save a fiver.
So the ancient Dell marches on.
