Which is better on the market. Nokia or Sony-Ericsson

AH14 (Elite) posted this on Sunday, 13th August 2006, 20:27

Looking for a new mobile.. Current one is nakered.
Not sure which is better - Nokia or Sony-Ericsson. Not willing to choose another make either.

Also which models are good too. Just want a mobile that won`t require an update for a good 2 years. Money isnt an object.
Regards. AH14

Personally, i`d go for a Sony Ericsson. I`ve had a K750i for a year and just upgraded to a K800i. I used to use Nokias religously. I had many problems (6130) so opted for the SE. It`s easy to use and is quite smart and adpatable.

Have a look at www.sonyericsson.com

If you`re interested I have my K750i (with extras) on sale via ebay. I am open to sensible offers though http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/forums/thread.asp?Forum=114&Thread=588182&Type=1

Technology moves so fast these days I doubt you will get a mobile that doesn`t need updated for 2 years.

However for the time being I`d recommend the Sony W810i, cracking little phone and provides everything I need at the minute.

I was always a sony-ericsson man having had T68, T610, K700 and a k750. However I have recently switched to Nokia with an N80 purely for it being first with a 3 megapixel camera. Although it`s failry chunky, I just love the Symbian operating system and the ability to run a Commodore 64 emulator on it! Oh and the photos are very good!

I`ve been eyeing up the Nokia N73, as I like the Symbian OS (although it can be a little sluggish and a bit hungry on battery - though the N73 is apparently a lot better in these respects).

There`s a review of the Ericsson K800i here, if that`s of any help to your decision making process:

The Nokia N80 beats every other mobile pants down for features, and is the only one which you might consider not changing for some time.

There is a new firmware upgrade out - version 4.0623 I think, which fixes all known bugs AND puts in an anti virus as well ;)

I have a 2 1/2 year old SE P900 - It works a treat, only needed a new battery as the original battery started loosing its charge around the 2 year mark.

If you are looking for a good reliable phone, can I also suggest Samsung. Mrs likes then, and they work well.

PS: if I was getting a phone again, for myself I would be looking at SE.
