Hardware from USA - will it work in the UK?

dsm (Competent) posted this on Monday, 28th July 2003, 20:37

Hi Folks,

I am interested in buying a set of Sony Surround Sound Headphones (MDR DS5100). The cheapest I can find them in the UK (online) is £299 + pp. I have found an American online retailer that are selling them for $349 (around £200).

What I would like to know is - will the unit work in the UK (power supply and all that).

Thanks for the help.

You will need a 240 to 110v coverter. You may get charged shipping and duty and vat and if the headphone goes faulty you may need to send it back to the states for repair. After taking all this into account is probably wise to buy from the uk.

Nelly`s right - I bought a soundcard from the US, and had to send it back as it was faulty. Hassle, expense, plus long time without soundcard.
