I could electrocute him to the moon and beyond
Think that sums up how dangerous a stunt it is to play with electricity.
We engineers that work with electricity respect how dangerous it is, and if you see an electrician with one hand in his pocket while working, he is not lazy, he is just making sure he cannot get an electrical path across his chest, which can disrupt the heart and is a killer.
But if you see an electrician with both hand in his pocket, then he is lazy, and needs firingĀ
When my dad was stationed in Lybia in the late 60's ("Lovely country until Gaddaffi f***ed it up"), he worked with a sparky who would never isolate the power when he worked on the base electrics, but would stand on one leg when he worked. A younger apprentice tried doing this once, without supervision, having seen the experienced guy do it on several occasions.
Naturally, the kid was blown halfway across the room as soon as he got close with a screwdriver. No-one told him, and he didn't ask, about the experienced Sparky, the one with the wooden leg.
