The church of england show how advanced and forward thinking they`re becoming...

...Only kidding, they`ve actually demonstrated that they`re still firmly entrenched in the bloody dark ages.

I`m an atheist, and can get quite vociferous on the matter, but like most atheists, I take an interest in matters of religion and faith, mainly because I like shaking my head in disbelief at the sheer stupidity of a self-appointed group of people who have taken it upon themselves to tell others how to live their lives. Saying they are the way, and the light, but god help you if you don`t have a penis, in which case you`ll always be second-class

Victims of their own demise, springs to mind.

The church has a big problem, they need to modernise to survive, but to do that they have to undermine much of what they believe in.

This is why I always find attempts by churches to reach out to youngsters laughable. In our village it`s called the `Double G` club. Games and God. I call it the Double B club. Brainwashing and Bullshit.

Also, `club`? Are they really THAT much out of touch? Oh, sorry, forgot who I was for a second

The C of E appears like a dysfunctional workingmens` club.

As for what it believes in........who knows.

String a few mealy mouthed words together and bob`s your uncle (not aunt).

Anyway, if the Synod is there to `convey the will of God` what is all the hoo-ha?

As for this......

RECTIFYING the anomaly is, we believe, good news in a range of ways. It is good news for women, who are at last assured in more than words alone that their baptismal relationship with Jesus Christ is not different from or inferior to that of men, as regards their fitness for public ministry exercised in Christ`s name and power.

It seems the Church Times spoke too soon.

Talk about muddle headed holier than thous....

How can anyone know where they stand when the Church doesn`t?

See what happens when man tries to intervene between individuals and their God (or whatever individuals belive in).

One imagines much stamping about in vestries all over the land.

Unless you`re gay and fancy getting married in a church, then you`re inferior whichever sex you are  - suppose that`s actually equality in a way...

We are all God's children, except some of us? :)

Organised religion does love irony.
