1. Each default code is different, depending on hotel chain, and/or laziness of the management. Our default codes changed weekly.

2. Even if his claims were true, he`s just given every dim-witted opportunist thief the code to your ****

Last time I tried to use a hotel safe, I managed to get my purse, camera, passport, phone and car keys locked in there...and somehow managed to lock it to the extent that the hotel guys couldn;t get it open either...they had to call in the firm that made them :(

Never used one again since and have returned to the method of carting a sack with me everywhere I go lol

I`m sure I came across a site or blog a while ago that carries a lot of this stuff.
Hacking coke machines for free drinks.
Getting in a thirty story building and hacking the lift so that it goes straight to your floor etc

Every Third Car

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

Urban myth I think.
We were away a couple of weeks ago and the safe wouldn`t open.  The guy came up and typed in two 8 or 9 digit codes and it opened.

These room safes are usually held on the wall with two screws into plasterboard

So any theif would just wrench it in one, off the wall. So much for your codes.

Oh interesting! I can see myself next time I`m in a lift trying to work out whether it was bottom left and top right, or top left and bottom right, or left top and bottom middle top....
