What happened to Hyperdrive?

Sue Brown (Elite Donator) posted this on Wednesday, 29th August 2007, 10:06

I`m guessing I`m probably the only one here who loves this comedy - I don`t know an yone else who watches it.

But I can`t find an explanation anywhere of what happened to Series 2. It had been on each Thursday on BBC2, but the 4th episode, "Convoy" was shown on August 16th, and since then we`ve had nothing.

Surely there would have been the standard 6 episodes? And they were due to release a Series 1 & 2 boxset in the autumn when the series ended.

Anyone got any ideas why it hs disappeared completely without trace?

The official BBC website for the series doesn`t even list details past the 3rd episode, although it does at least say that the series stopped on 16/8.

:/ :(

I just assumed that the series ended.

I do watch it but I can`t say that it`s that wonderful a comedy. Can`t really shake off the Red Dwarf comparisons.

I love it when I rember its on hope they do continue with it and I think anything like that will always be compared to Red Drawf but tbh they are completely different.

I`m not alone - thanks, Stu!

I can easily put Red Dwarf to one side. After all, you don`t automatically compare every sci-fi drama set in space to Star Trek, do you?

I think the actors are extremely well cast, and although I may not fall out of my chair laughing, it certainly brightens my week when it is on.

I have pre-ordered the boxset anyway, so if they did pull 2 episodes, as I suspect, hopefully they will be included there.

I must admit, I get fed up with the Beeb pulling shows mid-series because of low ratings (whether or not that is what happened here). They should at least let the series go its full course. How must the crew feel to not even see all the episodes get aired?

yep feel the same way Sue.

I was lucky enough to be seeing a woman that worked in the BBC ticket office at the time of Red Drawf being filmed in Manchester so went to see most of the shows being recorded, it was really good and the banter was awesome.

The BBC nearly pulled RD a few times but the response they got changed thier minds, but due to digital channels and the internet people now have more choice so I think this has some impact on its sucess.

The BBC have never pushed the adverts for it much ask most people and they say who what now where as ask them if they have heard of stargate etc and the response is different grrrr aunty can be a pain in the butt sometimes.

Erm, Convoy was the 6th episode. Didn`t you see Green Javelins and Artifact?

Without giving too much away, you will marvel at Artifact!

If it was the 6th episode, why don`t they list all six on the website?

I remember Artifact - it was brilliant. Also saw the Admiral`s Daughter, and the one with the dream-reading machine. Still have Convoy on Sky+ to watch.

Don`t have any recollection of Green Javellins, so must have missed that one. :/

Perhaps I started watching the series after missing the first 2 weeks? If so, that`s down to the poor advertising!

Thanks for putting me straight anyway. Good thing I`ve got the boxset coming by the sound of things! :B

The Green Javelins were the space version of the Red Arrows. Wasn`t Stephen Mangan in that ep?
