Page 1 of POLL: How long did you go out with your partner before getting married?

I`ve been going out with the `bird` for nigh upon 7 months now, and alread people are asking if we are going to "settle down",
In my mind it is too soon, I`d like to wait at least a year before thinking about making it more permanent.

What say you, the great DVD reviewer public?

Ask yourself how you`d feel if someone else married her.

If your stomach knots up and you can`t eat/sleep/think at the thought....then pop the question.

We started going out when I was 16 (gf was 9 months older).
We were together for 9 years before getting married, and that was 4 years ago...still going strong :D
(Nearly up to `half our lives` together :D:D)

Meet her in January 1972, married in September 1972 and it`s our 35th anniversary this year.

Met - and started going out with - my first husband exactly one year before we got married, and that lasted about 5 years.

Went out with No 2 for about 19 months before moving in together, then got married about 5 months later. Now into our 12th year of marriage with 2 wonderful sons.

As others have said, it all depends on how you feel. When you reach the stage that you don`t want to lose your partner and dread the thought of her being whisked away by someone else, that`s the time to consider making it more permanent.

Imagine how you and she might be at the age of 80 - does it seem appealing? That`s a good clue to when the time is right. ;)

24 years & still not married.

9 years for us... been married 6 in september, so i am due some time off for good behaviour?
