Just got my sky+ installed!

My engineers just left and (amazement) it does work like a dream. Now I can watch as much football as i want without being moaned at coz the other half is missing Ally Mcbeal etc. Just off to the shops to get an optical lead for my Dolby Digital output. Then it`s annoy the neighbours time.

OK - Cost = 300 for the box (with a rather sexy dolby digital optical out)
50 for installation (you get a new twin LNB dish too)
10 extra on top of your normal package to activate SKY+ (ie to record live tv ala tivo).
Other cool feature is to set the machine to tape every episode of a series, so no setting the video ever again.
Plus if you download a film from sky box office while your out, it keeps it on the hard drive for a week - and if you don`t watch it, they don`t charge you for it!
You get to keep your old box and dish too, so give em to a friend and he can get it installed for a tenner if he shops around! (or stick em on e bay - non contract sky digital boxes actually go for over 100 quid normally)

I can`t see the price being different anywhere at the moment as the new boxes have only been available for just over a week!

You can contact sky digital on 08705 800 800. If anyone wants to get it and isn`t already on sky digital - drop me an e-mail, because if i introduce someone we both get 25 quids worth of M+S vouchers (so that`s mums xmas present out of the way!)

No more video tapes for me!

Chris

yes it works out at £470 for the first year then £120 extra each year. Expensive i know. You can put your old sky digibox in another room(bedroom) but u have to pay £12 extra a month to do that. you do however get the same package as you have downstairs. More details are on channel 999

This looks interesting!!?
(from a sad NTL analogue "digital is coming soon, just hang on in there" punter)

Not heard much about this, but one quick question, why the DD optical out?

ignore my ignorance, but are Sky able or about to start transmitting in DD? (please say yes!!!!!) :-)

But the question is.....
When is that sexy little Dolby Digital optical output going to be put to its proper use, and not just for Dolby Surround and Stereo broadcasts?....

Engineer reckoned DD was coming, but couldn`t say when.
Not worth paying 12 quid a month to have your old system put upstairs when you can buy a video transmitter for 99 quid and never have to spend a penny more. It even works with the sky remote!
