[VIDEO] Hatred - this'll get the Daily Mail up in arms

Not for the squeamish, contains lots of genuinely mindless violence. Your chance to be a mass murderer, apparently made with the Unreal engine, and Epic asked for their logo to be removed from it.

I really can't see this seeing the light of day. For years the unknowing brigade have been up in arms about borderline games such as GTA, staring incessently at the potential for mindless violence instead of the actual plot of the games (which have never had the necessity to beat a female NPC to death with a baseball bat, Take a Break take note). But now this game seems to revel in nothing other than murdering people, in graphic detail, including, but not limited to, shooting up a police station.

Manhunt set a precedent, but that still had a plot that the violence was a party to, I can't really see any underlying moral subtext that can be brought to bear when some unstable child with uncaring parents goes completely postal and takes out his high school, his computer is checked and this game is found on it. There's no way the developers can say 'that wasn't the point of the game'. They can also throw ratings galore at it, but we all know how effective those can be.

Which is kind of a shame, because the effort gone into the game is obvious, but as a parent with a kind-of-north-pointing moral compass, I hope my kids, or several kids I know personally, never, ever get their hands on this.

Didn't take long...

This will surely work!

I'd like to think that the initial trailer was designed purely to garner the reaction that it has, and that the final game will have some point to it, satirical or otherwise. It certainly shouldn't be banned or censored, though, even if there is no meaning to the violence. I mean, if a rape simulator can exist, I don't see why this can't.

That has more shock value than the Grand Theft Jihadi video you posted the other week.

I'd still play it though.
