I don't remember much about the first one, apart from I enjoyed it. this looks like it's very silly, and a lot of fun :)
Ben Stiller was on the radio talking about it the other day, saying it didn't do too well at the cinema, but DVD sales were really good, and it got cult status, so they managed to get green light for a sequel, so was very grateful :)
I really struggle with Ben Stiller movies, I quite liked Mystery Men, enjoyed Meet the Parents, but everything funny in Dodgeball was in the trailer and Starsky & Hutch is best left never seen.
Tropic Thunder however was one of the funniest films I'd seen in ages.
There must be some formula, like with Nicholas Cage, where you can instantly tell whether it's a dreadful flick or worth catching.

Zoolander became a cult film (for some reason) and so after years of people banging on about it, they've knocked out a sequel.
Two words: Ron Burgundy. Did anyone see the sequel to this? It's so terrible that some scenes are genuinely embarrassing to watch (when Kristen Wiig's character meets Steve Carell's character for the first time *shudder*).
Hey, it may be great! (no it won't).
