Would you let your 11 year old kid watch Aliens?

Fascinating post here from a guy who let his 11 year old boy and his friends watch Aliens at a slumber party:
http://www.rogerebert.com/mzs/watching-aliens-for-the-first-time-again-with-a-bunch-of-kids

The article itself is a bit boring, but what is fascinating is the comments which seem to be split between those who think that this guy was an awful parent for letting these kids watch that movie at 11 (when you'd have to have been 18 when some of us were kids), and others cheering him on saying they think kids today have either already seen way worse or we should stop mollycoddling them.

I guess compared to a lot of films these days, the violence and language is pretty tame. I think I first watched it aged 13 at a school video club, so maybe it is just how things are these days.

So... would you?

I let mine watch Alien it at 6. He asked how babies get out of mummies tummies. I said "like that, but in a more controlled environment".

It would depend on the kids. If they're well adjusted and like scary films, then sure.

I loved this part:

The boys had trouble settling down because every few minutes somebody would plant a palm on somebody's face

Aliens came out when I was 13, so I'm outside the demographic, but I know I watched it before the age of 16 anmd thoroughly loved it. In fact, it's the only 18 cert 'horror' film my mother will watch. When you think about it, there's only one gory bit on it, and Bishop's bisection doesn't count, because he's full of Dulux brilliant white vinyl matt emulsion

I did't think Aliens was an 18??  Was it whan it originally came out and was re-classified?
For info, it's not 'just' the gore and tense scenes in the film, it's the number of 'f's in the film too.  Sure, I know they may hear it elsewhere/in school - doesn't mean they'll hear it in my house.

I thought it was an 18 originally, swear words made things a 15, and then any gore pushed it up. I think the only bit in the whole film you could say was gory is the "kill me" scene.

But it does show you how times change.

Alien definitely was (still is?).
I also think people's opinions are often different who don't have kids.
Until they have them that is...

You should not let kids see 'Frozen'as it is so dangerous and irresponsible.

Reason....

1....Suddenly bursting into song for no apparent reason, this could be emotionally disturbing to kids. Do you really want your kid to sing all day?

2...Snowman that falls to pieces at any given moment, makes kids wonder if their limbs are going to fall off.

3....Monsterous ice creature chasing people, causing nightmares to the little kids.

So the moral is don't let your kids see anything at all
