Did you see (and enjoy) The Rocketeer? It's in a similar vein (same director as well). I think it's a pretty decent stab at the character.

No, I think it got poor reviews (if we are talking about the same one from 1991) so I gave it a miss.

It did make me want to play a game from Cinemareware on the Amiga though.

Rocket Ranger! Never could finish that bloody game...

It's actually a pretty decent film. Nothing to do with Jennifer Connelly being in it at all. No siree...

All he had was a metal shield and incontinent pants for protection.

(one of the above is true  )

I enjoyed Captain America immensely - at least as long as it was in the 1940s.  As with his 1991 The Rocketeer, Joe Johnston can really do the period style and knows how to make an action/effects movie.  I think the movie ran into trouble updating Cap to the present (and thus stopping any sequels being set in the WWII milieu).  I think Cap 2 looks like one of Marvel's usual paint-by-numbers superhero titles, sorry.

I felt that it was the weakest of the marvel bunch, However as a kid I didn't really read any of the comics featuring Thor or Captain America so I didn't expect much from the movies.
