Scream Trilogy DVD Box Set Region 2 - rereleased - why?

sobeitjedi (Harmless) posted this on Friday, 1st October 2004, 11:14

Hi.

I already own the DVD box set of Scream - Region 2, but I see that it is being rereleased on Oct 4th. Anyone know why or what the differences are in these editions?

My boxset - http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000055Z8F/qid=1096628788/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl/026-1879513-4138058?tag=myrev09-21

I dont know if they are exactly the same but Id imagine its being re released cheaper just like everything else does whan its a few years old...Play are doing it for £13.99 which is not a bad price for the set. All 3 films are available for around a fiver each in shops such as music zone, so I dont see why the boxset cant be re released at a lower price now. I might even buy a copy myself :D

Quite a few items are re-released and I think there`s a trend for cheaper packaging when they do. Look at the X-Files boxsets. They went from very nice digipac fold outs to a `super amary` (don`t know to spell it!) case which can hold 6 (maybe 7 for those those sets that have 7) DVDs. I personnaly think that the original packaging was much better although they were not that robust. I had to track a 2nd hand copy of Blackadder the complete series as all the latest versions are in this `cheaper` packaging - and in that particular case, there`s been no price reduction :( I also did the same for Predator SE!

Don`t know if this applies to the Scream example though!

but there only the basic film, the box set has extras... and if you`d have put the order in with play.com when the sun was giving free dvd`s and 10% off, you could have bought it at the mispriced £10.50ish.

That`s actually wrong - the editions in the boxset are identical to the already-available single-disc releases. BVHE did re-release Scream and Scream 2, back in 2000 I think, but since then the single-disc versions have remained identical to their boxset counterparts. This boxset re-release is merely to tie in with Halloween; the content of the set is identical.
