The Goodmans CD walkman in the Index catalogue only £40 and plays MP3s on CD (so obviously 700mb capacity. I think it will play as much as you can squeeze on that with no limit for duration - so 150-ish decent-quality songs or hours and hours of audiobooks at low bitrate). It`s great, you can burn folders of MP3s to cd and it keeps them in the folders, so you can skip between albums and playlists.

Not anywhere near an iPod of course, but cheap as chips (albeit quite expensive ones! :))

I got the very cheap player from Novatech - a 32mb solid state mp3 player, which takes smart media cards, which I then got a 128mb card from 7dayshop - a 160mb mp3 player for under £100. I can fit about 3 albums on this.

Neal,

I have this player too, but do you find that it eats up the batteries pretty quickly ? I put in 2 duracells and I`m lucky if they last for 10 songs.

I don`t know whether to return it `cos its a good player other than that.

Cheers,
Rich.

Nothing less than an iPod.
