Gamecube Price Officially Cut To £79

Nintendo have today announced that as of 10th October 2003 the NINTENDO GAMECUBE will be going on sale in the UK at the estimated retail price of £79.

David Gosen, Managing Director of Sales and Marketing for Nintendo Europe, comments :

"There has never been a better time to get a GameCube and with this new price we want every household to have one. Our range of games has something for everyone and we know people love to play them. At the same time the industry has honoured these games with awards for innovation and excellent gameplay. If you are new to gaming or have been playing for years, then at this great price you simply can`t afford not to have a GameCube."

In the run up to Christmas 2003 players will see NINTENDO hit top gear with some of the most anticipated games for the NINTENDO GAMECUBE. The NINTENDO GAMECUBE will boast a library of over 200 games by Christmas, many of which are exclusive. Key games launching this Christmas include, from Nintendo: Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Soulcalibur II, 1080 Avalanche, F-Zero GX and Mario Party 5. From third party publishers: Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike from Lucas Arts, Viewtiful Joe and P.N.03 from Capcom, Billy Hatcher and The Giant Egg from SEGA, FIFA Football 2004, Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup, The Lord of The Rings: The Return of the King and Medal of Honor Rising Sun from EA, WWE Wrestlemania XIX from THQ and Tony Hawk`s Underground from Activision.

Retailers in the UK have pledged their support to Nintendo, claiming that the reduction in price will ensure that the NINTENDO GAMECUBE is a huge success this Christmas. "We are delighted with this news from Nintendo. This will provide a real boost to sales, and is supported by some terrific new software titles. This price point is fantastic news for us, and even better news for our customers this Christmas." Lisa Morgan, Deputy Chief Executive Designate, GAME.

From 10th October 2003 the NINTENDO GAMECUBE will be available in stores across the UK at the estimated retail price of around £79.

(I`d say this was a bargain, but feel free to move it to consoles forum)

Hmm, have to say I am tempted now. I have an Xbox (cost me £300 in March 2002!), and although the GC doesn`t compare to it, for that price it may be worth getting at some point. Opinions>
