    Review for XSight Lite

    9 / 10

The XSight Lite is a perfect controller, one controller that will do everything and instead of having to sit with up to three or four just to watch a film, you can now sit with one that will do everything.I haveĀ  a theory that whenever a piece of electronic equipment claims to make life easier, it is a complete lie and will probably take you at least five days to figure out how to work it and then five minutes more to give up and throw it away. Thankfully that is not the case with the XSight Lite which is possibly one of the simplest and most useful things I have ever seen. The XSight Lite is your typical Universal Remote that allows you to control multiple devices (up to six). These cover TV, Cable Box, Satellite Box, DVD, Digital Receiver, Video, Audio, DVR, CD players, Digital Media, Combo Units amongst others. They are also able to use it to control your IPod docks, PS2 and PS3, Xbox 360 and Blu-ray players. Basically if it's controlled with a remote control then it will work on this unit. I should note that if you are buying this as a replacement remote I would advise you check the website first to make sure that the code for the device is available as there is no way you will be able to return the controller to the store after you have wrenched I out of the vacuum packaging it comes in. Now the first time you use it you may feel that you have some messing around to do if you don't have a hugely popular brand of device. If this is the case then you may find that you have to install the software (which you should anyway) which will help you download updates and specific codes to your devices. However, if for example, you have a Sky+ box, the code is already installed and you are up and away in a matter of seconds. Same to if you have a Sony TV or DVD player. All you have to do is follow the instructions on the handy LCD screen on the top of the remote and then Bam you're done. The screen makes entering codes a lot easier and also means you don't have to worry about whether what you are doing is right or not. In fact the screen allows you (though the software installed on your computer) to create Favorites that allows you to immediately access specific channels and so if you are one of those people who may only watch a dozen or so channels then they are all there without having to remember numbers, scroll through menus or flick through hundreds of channels. One of the greatest functions this has is called 'WatchMovie' which with the press of one button will power on your TV, DVD and any Speaker or Audio System that you include and also starts the movie. This is rather cool and even though there is an inherent laziness to it, I have to admit that it is fun to watch all your items switch on at the press of one button.
