"comparing anti-Republicanism"

It's actually remarkably galling to hear Republicans and their supporters whining so loudly about how awfully they're being 'treated' by the Biden administration, when they've essentially wielded the majority of the power for the last 12 years, a lot of the time gleefully and vocally revelling in stifling Obama for the first 8.

It's been less than 4 weeks of having the tables turned and now they're suffering worse than those that were interred at Auschwitz?

Screw that b*tch

That's not what she said at all.

And nice to see the veil falling and that all the talk of unifying the country was just that and nothing for anyone to take seriously...

She made light of people putting their preferred pronouns on social media.
She lazily invoked Godwin's law. (more usually the modus operandi of the left)
She spouted some s*** about masks.
She presumably voted for Trump. She sounds like a dick. But “abhorrent and unacceptable”?

I think ppl are forgetting there's a time and a place. if i was in the pub with a mate, and we had a conversation, where I said covid is a conspiracy, the injection is a tracking device, I'm going to refer myself as a beep bop, starting comparing current events to the Holocaust, etc, that would be "ok".

if however, this was  stood outside my place of work, me wearing a t-shirt with the company logo on shouting same stuff, I can see my boss having a word with me, before sending me to HR.

it's not exactly the first time someone has got fired for doing something their work place didn't like.

After all, this is a world where you can be fired for kneeling during a song.

I wonder how other countries would have reacted to the head of their Olympics committee making inappropriate comments? some probably would have sacked him, other forced him to resign quickly, I guess in Japan there is  a bit more prodding needed?

It's a debate that is sorely needed in these times.

Again, Pie (and presumably his creator) is consistent in his defence of free speech...

The last time I checked, she still has all her social media accounts and hasn't been locked up for the things she has said, so I don't see her exactly being silenced.

Free speech doesn't mean I have to pay you money or accept you in my organisation.

If somebody famous who has earned quite a lot of money in their life, shows a total lack of empathy and posts stupid things, then loses a gig over it, cry me a river.

But you know, it's a slippery slope to Godwins law!

Of course it is, but it's been used rather freely over the last decade - particularly since 2016 with no real ramifications for those using it against a sitting PotUS or his supporters.

Within said same organisation, I have already mentioned that the main star had also posted on social media comparing ICE camps to Nazi concentration camps, but this is apparently acceptable despite the fact that I'm unaware of ICE actually participating in genocidal activities.

Therefore there is a clear double standard at play here, especially as Carano was talking about the environmental conditions and public perception of Holocaust victims prior to WW2 and the actual Holocaust.  Said conditions and perception leading to mass beatings in the street, vandalism and Kristallnacht  - which is a hyperbolic comparison to be sure but way short of the other, and there are actual recent events that bear out this comparison.

Maybe if we focused less on differences and screaming at each other on social media and looked for common ground then we wouldn't see this escalating in the manner it appears to be.

That you can't see the difference between these two comparisons, says much.

This is a good idea, I hope you'll start!

Maybe Disney gave Mando a right bollocking after his "first offence", and he listened? Maybe it's because he's the star, but then, they could make sure he never takes off his helmet again.

Maybe they just needed an excuse to not renew her contract? There could be more behind the scenes we don't know about.

Oh, I definitely see the difference.

Carano was highlighting the left's intolerance towards those who have opposing views and where that might lead.

Pascal was comparing detention camps for illegal aliens (said camps existing long before PotUS 45) to those where millions of people were systematically exterminated by Zyklon 5 or just shot in the head.

Glad we can agree on the fact there is a huge difference, shame we can't agree that the latter is far, far worse than the former.

I honestly don't know what to say to that. I know your empathy is on the low side, but the dehumanisation of people and children to a degree that you think they are worth less than a political opinion is very depressing. 😞
