Still left a few questions unanswered, but they may be resolved with a third season, but I'm not sure how that would work without

SPOILER:
Grogu

In the picture, unless they're planning to incorporate that thread into the post-credits reveal.

Last episode thoughts...

SPOILER:
That was some bad skywalker cgi.

I thought Book of Boba is probably a spin off series.

I feel the next path for the Mandalorian is the reluctant leader, he ended up the reluctant baby sitter so it's a logical next step.

Finally made it to the end. I was really hoping they would move away from the tedious formula of the first season but it seems they doubled down on it instead. Previously on The Manderpian...

I need the thing.
We'll give you the thing if you do the thing.
Ok I'll do the thing.
*he does the thing*
I did the thing now gimme the thing.
Ok, here's the thing.
Thanks, bye.
*roll credits*

There is so much crap in this show that you could just straight up cut out and it wouldn't affect the story in any way. The only thing that kept me watching was the connection between Din and Grogu. If season 3 is gonna be about him becoming king of the helmet people, I don't think I'll bother.

As for the reveal after the credits? I guess they just had so much filler they needed to create a whole second show.

or should that be

this is the way?

SPOILER:

Hamil has posted a few amusing tweets about it, impressive how they kept his involvement secret for a year!

regarding the cgi, a few ppl have pointed out ILM should have just gone to some of the deep fake youtubers and got them to do it ;)

Nicked from Wiki on the subject of Hitchcock's MacGuffin.

Quote:
In fiction, a "MacGuffin" — sometimes spelt "McGuffin" or "Macguffin" — is a plot device in the form of some goal, desired object, or other motivator that the protagonist (and sometimes the antagonist) is willing to do and sacrifice almost anything to pursue, often with little or no narrative explanation as to why it is considered so desirable. A MacGuffin, therefore, functions merely as "a plot element that catches the viewers' attention or drives the plot of a work of fiction". Common examples are money, victory, glory, survival, a source of power, a potential threat, a mysterious but highly desired item or object, or simply something that is entirely unexplained.

That's not really the problem, though. Grogu himself is basically a macguffin, albeit one with oddly more character development than most of the human cast. The problem is that each episode uses the exact same mindnumbing formula and most of the time, the events of the episode have no impact on the ongoing storyline. It's all so vacuous and unsatisfying.

They bring in cool actors like Titus Welliver and Michael Biehn, but then give them three scenes and kill them off. When Ahsoka turned up I thought "finally, a real character!". And while she was interacting with Din and Grogu, it was great. Some real storytelling, simple as it might have been. Characters talking to each other and advancing the plot. Good stuff!

But then it comes.
"Help me do the thing and I'll help you with the thing..."

Zzzzz...

Oh and then she disappears because it was all just a launchpad for her own show anyway. Ditto Boba Fat.

It would be great if somebody edited out all of the pointless guff and made a solid two-hour movie with just the main plot.
