RE: [VIDEO] The All New Doctor Who Thread...

Compared to Orphan 55, this one was a work of genius. The eco message wasn't nearly as heavy handed, and indeed only seems obvious cos Attenborough et al have been keeping ocean plastic pollution in the headlines for months now. The show had pace, the mystery was interesting, and all of the characters got something to do, even Yaz, who's usually a fifth wheel. Got no problem with the gender politics anymore, not that I ever had. The show's been on for 15 years, and started off with Capt Jack snogging everything in sight.

I completely agree with Pete, I enjoyed it but by god there's a subtle message and a full on knock out punch you can't avoid, that was definitely the latter , keep up the good show and ease back on the environmental bashing, we know already.

Probably not aimed at us, you know, the bunch that got irritated when we had to stop using incandecent lightbulbs (I mean not us personally, our generations and above).

Hallo.
Boomer representative here.

What's replaced incandescent bulbs lasts nowhere near what it states on the box and I seem to spend just as much on replacements as before.

Seems to be morphing into Doctor Who, How, What, Why, When, Where and NO.

That's better.

I made about 5 minutes of that Villa Diodatta thingy and gave up.

I have gone off the season the last couple of episodes including this long, long, long Cyberman story, very ponderous and no real menace. Hope the finale blows me away but having my doubts now after a cracking 1st half of the season.

I'd agree with this, but then it appears we need to watch which ones we buy:

Well I am as you know a Sifi buff, and like to go to Sifi films, see Sifi TV series etc, and tried my best to like this new Doctor, but I just can't.

She seems to be a lacking in command and control and she is always bewildered and many a time its just luck they all pull through. Maybe there are far too many companions or something. I was hoping a few would be bumped off or chucked out the Tardis in this series

They all seem to be good enough actors, a lot of fancy CGI and props, and expensive locations. Maybe its the poor scripts, but I can take it or leave it now.

If the BBC becomes privatised soon which i hope it does, and then we do not have to pay a license fee (TAX for a TV), then if Doctor Who becomes payable on a BBC channel I would just forget it. To me its not even good enough to buy as a DVD boxset.

I am quite a fan of the New Doctor... however the last two episodes of the shouting tantruming The Master were awful.

It was like watching a pantomime dame!

As for The Cybermen... they were not scary at all, my abing memory of Dr Who as a child was sitting with a cushion ready to be scared whitless... have watched this with my 10 and 12 year olds, they just aren't scared by any of it!

I hope the Daleks are more menacing...

Will probably turn out to be a misunderstood species with mild anger issues...
