Page 5 of Lord of the Rings coming to Amazon

As a first episode to a new series it was way better than House of the Dragon.
Though I'd agree with a tweet I saw that the hobbits being Irish is annoying me.
Just used to them being sort of parochial English country.

As we have Men, Elves and Dwarves it's difficult to think what else a bunch of big footed short arses would be. If they're talking migration they have changed the whole ethos of them being homebodies who never venture far from home.

I read Amazon suspended reviews because everything was a 10 or a 1.

Just seen episode two and it's really getting interesting now. And also they named the not-Hobbits too 😂

...the stranger. Is that Tom Bombadillo? I tried so hard to read The Silmarillion but it was so so boring I couldn't get far so have no idea about the deeper lore. But I do think I remember from LOTR he was heavily in sync with the plants and forest life, and very, very old.

I screwed up watching the first two episodes
As my lad had watched episode one I read the 1 hour 5 mins as 1.5 mins and thought it was the trailer I'd already watched so viewed two then one.
A nights sleep and  bit of mental shuffling means I'm up to speed now


Had the same problem with the other book.
One of those should but couldn't.

A bit like Hawking's. A Brief History of Time.
Tried several time's but just glaze over after a while.

I enjoyed that and didn't have any problems with it. But The Silmarillion was so unreadable, even my uncle who was an English teacher and big Tolkein fan said it was a terrible read which made me feel better.
