Now there's a thing.
Although we only got a TV for the coronation in 53 and I wouldn't even have been two. On the day of my birth Clive Dunn (Dad's Army) was presenting a variety show.
I'm assuming it was the same Clive Dunn and as he was born in 1920 it probably was.

In Australia, my earliest memory of TV was Andy Pandy, who was a rather androgynous puppet that slept in a hamper basket with a teddy 

Though I still have nightmares where the end gable of the house came together and made an evil face. How the ell could a house have a face on it. 

Think I should sue them for all those years of sleepless nights.

Then we got Bill and Ben, who were always on about weed  

What a childhood, no wonder I grew up deranged he he.

Marine boy (Japanese) That song brought back memories, 1968 if I remember, Also remember Flipper (USA made) and the Flying Doctor (Oz), Skippy the bush kangaroo (Oz). You may or not have got these in the UK at the time?

Used to see a lot of dubbed Japanese TV as well in Oz. Usually a lot of Japanese Ninja type adventures, that combined action with mystical powers. In fact the Mr Bean Advert on TV where he is on a Japanese rooftop and messes up, reminds me of these.
