R.I.P. Mr Garibaldi

Babylon 5's Jerry Doyle has died.

One of my favourite characters. I've recently bought the B5 box set. Been meaning to reimmerse myself into B5 universe. It's going to be bittersweet now. That show has been unlucky when it comes to untimely passing.

I watched it from beginning to end, I think when I was at uni and it was on ch4? haven't seen it since, I remembered the name, as soon as I clicked on the link and saw his picture, I thought "yes, I remember him, he was one of my faves in the show as well" :(

One of the best series ever in the history of Si-fi, and got better every season, with my favorite which I have on DVD, is the second series.

The actors picked were superb for the show, like Garibaldi, and some episodes were outstanding, like 'the night of the dead' and that one which the captain had to throw himself out the central core train which had a bomb in it, and fall into the near non gravity well of the cylindrical space station, and slowly fall to his  death, unless something spectacular happened, which it did.

Yes, a brilliant arc story ove many years, enjoyed it immensely, and good on the actors who gave us this gem of a space story.

Only knew him through Babylon 5 too, but loved him in that too.

What actually makes a great show like Babylon 5 was not only good acting but character buildup and interaction, as we had five years to watch it, we got to know each character, theirs highs and their lows.

All great TV series has to have this or we do not give a rats arse if they die, a bit like the red T shirt crew in Star Trek who were just cannon fodder.

In fact there was such a argument with the LOST series ending, yet it again had great character buildup, and you related to each character. So a lot has to do with the journey rather than just the ending.

Think I have made my point

That's rather sad news, still think Babylon 5 was the best sci-fi to hit TV so far and during its run The Lurker's Guide to Babylon 5 was a must-stop for all the hidden hints and clues for each episode, including some great inside info from JMS.

B5 has been hit with a lot of unfortunate deaths over the years, this is, I think number 4.

RIP Mr Garibaldi *in best Londo Molari voice*

I meant of the main characters, rather than anyone who appeared but that is a significant number regardless.

And I forgot Zathras - I was only thinking of Richard Biggs, Jeff Conaway and the sublime Andreas Katsulas...

Michael O'Hare was a significant loss among the main cast. It just seems to me that of the cast and creators, a disproportionate number died before their time.
