RE: [VIDEO] Asimov's Foundation
First two episodes are a bit of a chore. It is visually stunning and the production value is off the charts, and Bear McCreary's score is a treat. I'm struggling to really connect with the characters, though.
Gaal reminds me of Rey from Star Wars a little bit, in that I'm kinda invested in her story because the show tells me she is the main character and I guess she is somewhat interesting ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Lee Pace is chewing the scenery just a little too hard, bordering on panto-villain territory.
So far I'm enjoying the world (or Galaxy) building the most and they've done a pretty decent job of establishing the lore (although from what I'm told it deviates wildly from the source material). A quick skim of the wikipedia article would seem to confirm as much.
Hoping for more sci-fi and less relationship drama in the coming episodes.

So I finally caught up with this over Christmas and I have to say... I quite liked it.
It veered a little too far into sci-fantasy for my liking at times, with mathematics being treated like a Jedi force power and characters receiving visions of others to whom they are mysteriously linked... somehow. But it was fairly easy to forgive because the show otherwise deals with some fascinating sci-fi concepts, such as generational cloning. The whole Empire storyline was easily my favourite. I called Lee Pace a panto-villain above and I take that back. He ended up being one of the most compelling parts in the show...
SPOILER:
His revenge against Azura in the final episode is one of the most decisively cruel things I've ever seen.
I also very much enjoyed Kubbra Sait's Phara - one of the most memorable antagonists in years. She has a ton of screen presence and I fully expect to see a lot more of her in other future productions...
SPOILER:
Just not this one :(
I haven't read the books and reading the wikipedia page for the novels has me scratching my head as to how the hell they can it work if they plan on being remotely faithful to the source. That said, I can't wait to see them try.
PS. Bear McCreary's score is sumptuous and the main titles are a work of art:

Overall I didn't like it.
Had some nice ideas but the implementation was woeful.
Looked nice though...

Just finished this myself, I found the first few episodes slow, but then it picked up a lot and I really enjoyed it. The last 30 minutes were a little bit back to too slow again, but I'm glad it gets a second season because I am curious to know where this goes (not read the books).

SPOILER:
You were so right about Empire's revenge against Azura. But one thing I'm struggling with is his understanding they needed to change in like a few scenes later and wanting them to let his genetically flawed brother live.

[VIDEO] RE:Asimov's Foundation
Was worried this would have been cancelled, mainly because it's not the sort of show that survives unless it gets huge viewing figures.

"Think I need a recap on season 1!"
Or to watch it for the first time.
Another Apple I didn't remember falling onto my watch list.

I am not young enough to know everything.
Up to episode 5.
Does take a while to get going.
Yes Lee Pace chews the scenery but given his character I wouldn't expect Mr Nice Guy
Intriguing enough and so many years since I read the books I wouldn't notice any deviation.
I think I'll put off re reading them until I've finished at least season one.
