RE: [VIDEO] True Detective
HBO have announced/confirmed the speculation that Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn will star in the second season of True Detective. Casting of the other key roles has yet to be announced, although a number of actresses have been rumoured.
Vaughn's casting has been met with some derision, but this is mostly due to his body of work consisting of unfunny comedies. I doubt that HBO would take a chance unless they saw something in him.

HBO at long last has confirmed the first specifics about season two of drama series “True Detective,” including the casting of Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn in lead roles.
Story will revolve around three cops and career criminal who navigate a web of conspiracy after a murder.
Farrell plays Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him. Vaughn plays Frank Semyon, a man in danger of losing his criminal empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.
Justin Lin is on board to direct the first two episodes of the eight-episode season. Lensing is set to begin later this fall in California for a January premiere.
There’s still no word about additional cast members, which are expected to include a femme in the role of a police officer. Read full article

RE: [VIDEO] True Detective
So I've been skimming this thread, after beginning watching this, and mostly thinking to myself why are you all going on about how amazing this series is after episode 4?
...and not after episode 2??? And then I saw episode 4. :)
I only saw episode 1 last night, saw three in a row tonight, this is really just-one-more-episode TV. And I thought Fargo was good.

Now enjoying this show for the fourth time. Perfect TV.
The first episode was decent. I'm certainly on board for the rest. I'm still not sold on Vince Vaughn, though.
Rachel McAdams is really good in this.
Ooh I didn't realise this had started again, thanks!
