More trivia, the actor that plays Hodor is apparently a DJ.

I think this week was as close as GoT gets to a filler episode. :)

SPOILER:
After a few weeks losing the limelight, Tyrion is back quoting some of the best lines...

"The Lord of Light wants his enemies burned. The Drowned God wants them drowned. Why are all the gods such vicious ****s? Where is the god of tits and wine?"

I`m still managing to resist watching the show or reading the spoilers!

I haven`t shown this much will power in years ;)

Well episode 8 has just gone and assuming there`s only 10 again this season, so you`re probably good to go in a couple of days (if doing one a day).

I don`t think I`ll be able to resist cracking on with the books though.

Also we were saying how good it is that Jamie and Tyrion Lannister have very similar mannerisms in the way they speak etc and with the delivery of their quips.

SPOILER:
The Battle of Blackwater looked a hell of a lot more impressive than I was expecting! That wildfire explosion was spectacular :) I`ve got the sudden urge to re-watch The Two Towers now...

Oh my, episode 9...

@Gareth

SPOILER:
Yeah the wildfire explosion was amazing! The whole battle was incredible, especially considering the budget in comparison to LotR! Not having read the books (well I`m still on the first one, I`ll probably finish it just as this season ends at this rate), I have no idea if Tyrion makes it or not. I hope he does!

I did wonder though, Spartacus ended a few weeks ago, whether that freed up their special fx decapitation team and if they went straight to work on this, there was a lot of that going on!
One more episode to go of this season.

ITS NOT FAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed with above, this weeks episode was absolutely superb.

Glad I hadn`t read the books, and given how much characters get written off in this I really was in suspense (whereas usually you assume certain people "have" to live).

SPOILER:
Although I thought that Tyrion would be one that would live, although I still think he will at the moment

Same! I`m really enjoying reading/listening to the first book having seen the first series, it`s like watching an extended special edition of your favourite movie for the first time.

SPOILER:
I think, well hope, because as you say you can`t assume certain people will live, Tyrion survives. It was a cut to his face, so I can see him surviving that. Also (and no confirmation please from people who have read the books!) his talk in previous episodes about how people who say the real worry is what is coming from beyond the wall (winter is coming apparently!) should be listened to, makes me wonder if he`s ultimately going to be the one who unites the lands against the northern invasion and/or the dragons, and this is all just the stepping stones from ridiculed half-man to strategic admired leader.

What happened to Bron? Didn`t see him after they had retreated in to the castle.

Another year to wait...

SPOILER:

White walkers!

The scene with Osha and Luwin, followed by the shot of the sacked Winterfell gave me a spot of lumpy throat. I`m not usually a fan of Ramin Djawadi`s music, but his contributions here are really rather good!
