It's fine, we'll only give away a penalty and Kane will miss it, it's fine.

Forgot to mention.
Really happy that Arsene was back in the stadium, in the directors box by invitation.
The camera went on him just after the second goal and the ground started up with 'Only one Arsene Wenger'.
Gave them a wave back and seemed really happy with it.

Pics of him giving Saka a hug. He'd previously said he'd never met him.

I'm not surprised, isn't this the first time he's been back since leaving? I know he stayed far too long, although you can say history is to thank for leading us to Arteta, but it's also stupid to not recognise how he changed the face of the club and the league, and then there was The Invincibles.

I'm glad we can look back at how much he did, and relish him being in the crowd.

That was harder than the score line suggest and they're unlucky to have that goal disallowed.
Thanks to Everton and Leeds though our lead has now gone from five to seven points. Looks good but there's still a long way to go.
Newcastle on Tuesday will be quite a test but they didn't look outstanding against Leeds.

I am starting to think we could win the league now.
There, I said it!

La la la la not listening. 🙉

There's an awful long way from could to will.
January's a bit of a crunch month.
Newcastle, Tottenham and United all in a row with an outing for the reserves against Oxford thrown in.

I think 2023 could be more stressful than 2022 by some distance.

Didn't see the second half as was out for New Year's Eve festivities, which saved me from the stress!

After watching MOTD, that pass from Odegaard... I'm just going to quote myself from early last season I think.

Quote:
RJS says...
"YES! Odegaard signed, permanent transfer.

I am super happy about that, I really think he's the long term creative midfielder we need."

Feels good looking back at that one! And who can forget this wonderful exchange?

RJS says...
"I do think Arteta is building a strong team for the future, looking at the age of the players. And I really hope he is given the time to do it."

Followed by...

"Christie imho is miles better than Odegaard"

...

Quote:
Snaps says...
"You may well be right but Arteta's the one being paid the big bucks to make the choice.
So you and I are just interested onlookers."

"Paid big bucks currently don't think he will be long, tbh amazed he is still in a job"

...

Quote:
RJS says...
"He is building something from scratch, without the money City/Chelsea have, but under the same spotlight. He's also a very young manager, I think it's worth giving him time.

If we got a new manager, we'd still have the same players and not have the spending power. If Arteta can make this a strong team, it could dominate for a few years."

...

Quote:
mbilko says...
"He's been in the job nearly 2 years and as far as I can see. the teams regression is horrendous , and his signings and tactics seriously underwhelming to say the least."

That one aged well. 😀

Maybe come the end of the season, we can go digging for quotes that say, "You'll never win anything with kids" 😂

Definitely missing Jesus there. Newcastle really showing they earned their league position.

Really?
Pretty bloody cynical from my viewpoint.
A bloody difficult watch and a referee out of his depth.
Not so much missing Jesus as missing options. Only one sub made and that was like for like.
The main plus point I can see is that despite the ref seldom having his yellow card back in his pocket for a period in the first half none of ours one booking away from a suspension got one. So everybody's available for Tottenham.

EDIT: Just checked dates and I'm going to miss the derby. 😨😠
They'd better not ruin my day, at least let me enjoy them on MOTD.
