there's some big names there, Andy Mac you may not have heard of, but if I say, he's Tony Hawk's doubles partner, you'll know he's better than average :)

right, so Andy Mac is doing the "I'm not good enough to be considered for my actual nationality's team, but if i look through my family tree, a tenuous link may help me qualify" :(

ladies again disappointing, after an earlier competition I read an interview with one of the ladies saying she had only been skating a couple of years, so I guess they need to fill the places, which would explain the difference in quality  between the best and worst ladies.

having said that, in the ladies and the mens it amazing what some of the kids are doing these days. I remember watching skate videos when I skated as a teenager, and I could hope to do some of the tricks one day, these days I'd struggle in THPS on PlayStation ;)

I suspect this is about getting it out there to encourage more people to take up the sport. Kind of like how you can now do curling in places other than Scotland.

We probably have one or two generations that haven't really been exposed much to skateboarding.

disappointing again, we're so far behind other nations, you can see why the best skaters relocate to USA, not just the climate but mixing with the best in the world.

The women's I'm sorry to say was painful to watch, but then when they listed the skaters at the beginning, and gave their school year or job, it was an indication wasn't going to be amazing, at the Olympics we saw Japan, USA had some great skaters, none of these were anywhere near close :(

Mens was better, but most if not all were pro, so they should be, but the best runs were very good, but not as many great tricks in the run you see while watching x games, or we saw at Olympics last year :( You can see why none went to Olympics last time :(

On a side note I saw UK BMXer Declan Brooks got 4th in one of BMX events at Japan X games :) (He medalled at Olympics)

Japan x-games

the difference may not be obvious to some, but some of the tricks he does are switch ( "wrong" foot at front and back), bit like when Ronnie plays snooker left handed, but less insulting to opponent ;)

and the women's
