Page 3 of Arsenal 21/22 season

I think this is different from Southgate's penalty for so many reasons.
Firstly the blame is not on one pair of shoulders, three of our team missed. So he's not being singled out.
Secondly, the support structures around these players are all levels of maturity above the practically non-existent ones back in the 90s.
Thirdly, in less than 12 months he'll be at another major tournament, which will be a good chance to lay any remaining things to rest.
And possibly most important of all, Saka has been so loved at Arsenal by the fans ever since he broke into the first team, just look at how protective we are over him, and how much we want him to do well.

All true but still a bad decision and an unnecessary load.
Rashford was used to taking pens, Sancho I confess I don't know.

I see that Grealish has said he wanted to take that last penalty but was overruled.
Sancho, even though he's just moved to Man Utd for big money, I class him in the same bracket as Saka as I just don't know enough about him.
Rashford should have known better and not bothered with the Pogba-like penalty...but it's still just a penalty, it ain't career suicide or the end of the world.
I don't agree with him being criticised over his politics in the same way I didn't agree with Cameron being criticised for his love of 'chillaxing' with boxsets or Corbyn for making jam or collecting manhole cover rubbings. Everyone is entitled to make whatever use of their free time they feel like, no job is ever truly 24/7, 365...

I would like to know where the experienced players disappeared to?
Smith-Rowe signed, so glad all the advances from Villa were ignored.
Also, Covid means the team isn't travelling to America, which I'm glad about, we could do without the jetlag!

I don't think there was ever any serious doubt that Smith Rowe would sign and I would love to hear from Villa what gave them the idea that they could sign him and we would accept their pound shop valuation.
After having got Saka to extend this to me was the most important bit of the summer business which now seems to be shaping up quite nicely.
I don't know if this is genuine but it gave me a chuckle.
Missing out on USA is fine as long as we can get some serious opposition to replace those matches.
