Women's Euro 2017

admars (Elite) posted this on Sunday, 30th July 2017, 20:45

I saw a bit of the England Vs. Portugal match, and have just finished watching the 2nd half of England Vs. France.

It's a bit like watching lower league football, the quality isn't there, there's a lot more wildly swinging leg near ball, but there is also some good finishing, there's a lot of passion, and physical challenges, anyone would think the players actually want to be there and are playing because they enjoy it and want to win ;)

Semi final is Thursday,  England Vs, Netherlands

Followed the semi in 5Live while working.
Despite Jonathan Pearce which shows some dedication on my part.

Women's football has come on loads in the last couple of years. Now they are getting towards a decent level of pay and can train to a higher level it should continue to improve.

Wait till they land a decent TV deal.

Aye, as more play, the pool will grow and the talent pool will be greater. It's good the BBC is giving more prominence to Women's Football on the sports website, and great Channel 4 is covering the Euros.

I watched the second half (been following Arsenal Ladies for a bit via the WSL show on the Beeb), and some nervy moments with people throwing themselves in front of shots in the box.

Jordan Nobbs is my favourite player atm, and this is totally not because she's also a Gunner. Okay maybe a bit, but mainly because I'm a rubbish keeper, not a very good striker, not a great defender, so I tend to feel most comfortable in midfield, and on a good day I can maybe play a bit like her...

...not like a lot, but a bit.
