Yes, I think that's a shame too. But I'm glad he's been pushed, because otherwise next season we'd be doing this all over again. :(

The end of an era, Arsene's last game at home (not televised) FFS.

Let's hops Dyche doesn't ruin the party because he's come close the last few matches and we have guaranteed him Europa League by losing to Madrid.

Finally a fitting end to his reign at Arsenal.

A great performance, huge respect for Burnley and their fans for applauding him at the start and singing his name, a clean sheet, a Mertesacker cameo, and the first thing he says when they present him with the trophy for the Invincibles season, is he wishes Ferguson the best.

And a full stadium giving him the send off he deserves.

I feel quite teary eyed!

MOTD didn't record.

So many thanks Arsenal for getting the whole thing up on the club's Player a lot earlier than usual.
Definitely a lump in my throat for the final speech.
The match had the feel of an old Harlem Globetrotters match or a testimonial with an opposition just going through the motions. I hope they do better in the Europa next season just not as well as us.
There's a lot to be optimistic about with our youngsters coming through as long as we get the right manager/coach.

EDIT: Put that one in your diary Me, optimistic!

"The 1-0 victory saw Wenger win at his 48th different Premier League ground, breaking Sir Alex Ferguson’s record of 47 in the process – though he could have done it sooner had Arsenal won away to Brighton."

Looks now like the weight of the world has lifted from his shoulders, which it probably has.
Just confirms to me what I've said for about 3 years now that what he needed was what no club manager could ever have, a sabbatical.
Once he's had as long as he needs some other club, hopefully not in this country, will benefit. I don't think he's ready yet to give up the day to day involvement of league football.

I think he'll do another three years or so of league football, to prove to himself that he can do it elsewhere and then either manage France if the position's available or go into a senior position in maybe FIFA, if it's clean enough by then.

As for us apparently Arteta's odds have really shortened. 🤔

It's difficult, inexperienced manager could be great, could be bad. But whoever they are, if the players don't respect them, they are going to end up damaging themselves and the club.

I'm not sure Arteta is old enough to command the respect he would need to have from players.

Unai Emery to be next Arsenal manager:

But a far more interesting article on him earlier in the season when he announced he'd not be renewing his contract with PSG:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43924395

Quote:
The club finished second behind Monaco in Emery's first season in charge but defeated the champions 7-1 on 15 April to claim their fifth league title in six years.

Emery, who won the Europa League three years running with Sevilla, has previously been linked with a move to Real Sociedad.

He obviously knows how to win things!

How difficult would you say winning the French league is - esp. with PSG's money?

I have no idea. I actually think Arsenal for a few years have been close to a squad good enough to challenge for the title...

...but we are lacking in a few areas and Wenger has always put too much belief in his players, where as someone more ruthless like say Ferguson or Mourinho would have just moved people not good enough, out.

Maybe we also need someone who can motivate the players, or is more tactical in his approach to how we win games.

Or maybe we just need a change and it doesn't matter who it is as long as they are good enough.

Three months and we'll start finding out!
