"Sturridge has had enough of Klopp

Liverpool could be about to lose one of their most gifted players, with Daniel Sturridge angling for an exit - according to Sky's Sunday Supplement team. The collective might of Fleet Street's finest came to the conclusion that Sturridge is unhappy at Anfield due to his treatment at the hands of Jurgen Klopp and is pushing to leave the club. At his best he's a £45m player, it was claimed, while Sturridge's dissatisfaction with playing out wide is a big factor in his reluctance to stay on Merseyside.

Paper Round's view: If this turns out to be true then Sturridge needs to take a long, hard look at himself. We're talking about one the most talented footballers of his generation, who is so unwilling to sway from his personal belief of what's best for him that he's in danger of ruining his career completely.

Unhappy playing on the wing, Daniel? Then maybe work on your hold-up play and all-round centre-forward skills. Feel you should be starting regularly in the team? Well perhaps showing a consistently positive on-pitch attitude would help. Unhappy with your attacking team-mates? If you maybe passed the ball once or twice a game then there'd be a higher chance of you gelling with them.

It was the same for England as it is for Liverpool: Sturridge is not as good a player as he thinks he is, and even at the incredible level he's at that creates major problems for the team as a whole."

Wow!

Not so sure about lots of that tbh.  Sturridge is a phenomenal player with an amazing record at Liverpool.  We're currently playing too many players out of position - and Sturridge out wide is not the best use of his talents.  He's easily one of the top couple of 'make a goal from absolutely nothing in the box' strikers in the Prem.
You can certainly see something's not right from his body language though - even after scoring a couple last week.  And then not played next game.

Sturridge to Arsenal was actually discussed on Arseblog this week and consensus was no thanks.
Don't need the injury record or the attitude.

Really? :o

Last season Olivier Giroud scored more than he did in the Premiership, and we don't think he's a good enough striker.

I disagree he's good enough but not on his own. He's leaned on too much and has been knackered by the end of the last two seasons.
Let's see how we get along with Spardy (Perez)

Well, I've mentioned his injury record but you're talking about last season's goalscoring compared to Giroud's?
OK, last season he scored about half what Giroud did and played in about a dozen games.  And Giroud played pretty much all, if not every single game?  Hardly a fair comparison?
Sturridge has one of the best goals to games ratio in Premiership history I think.  At Liverpool he's way better than a 1 in 2 striker (including last season btw) and Giroud's not even close.  Just about did it in one season?
Totally accept concerns about his injury record but to question his goalscoring ability - no chance.

I may be misremembering this, but he hit a rough patch midway through the season and got benched for a while, coming on as a substitute in nearly every game but rarely starting.

He was being booed by the French fans in internationals, I seem to recall.

I don't watch Sturridge week in, week out, so this is just based on all the England matches and few Liverpool games I've watched. To me he's like Walcott, potentially a great player, you really want him to be a great player, but unless a miracle happens he's never going to be better than a decent one.

lol @ Sturridge only being a decent player.  His record suggests otherwise.
Anyway, another great performance last night and sitting nicely in the league after easily the most difficult starts of all the sides.
Keep it up boys! :)
