A couple of misses that made me shout "need a striker!!!" followed by a weak goal to give away, then playing quite well and some good goals, then letting City get one back because they'd turned off at the back, and then Gabriel... :(

Sigh!

They should stop referring to injury crises at Arsenal as that is our natural state.
Haven't seen the highlights yet but pre-season so it proves/disproves nothing.
This time next week will either be a sh*t storm of 'Wenger out' or 'Arsene knows best'. Or more likely a draw when both sides can scream the house down.

Oh look, no new striker and two young centre backs, lose 3-4, what a surprise.

Started the season with hope but little expectation as usual.
'We have internal solutions'
A 20 year old centre back alongside a 4th choice that last season he prefered using a full back rather than risking.

I know 1st match and all that but unfortunately I can see Arsene's reign ending with a whimper and not a bang.

Much better performance this week, but still not good enough up front. A lot of players look like they are coming back from injury and not sharp.

Holding was good, Wilshere and Ozil came on and looked good too.

But meh, need an experienced centre back for cover, and blah blah blah striker blah blah blah.

5 points behind after two matches. Yes it's early in the season and you can't make assumptions but I'd wager a significant amount that we wont finish above fourth.
Champions League will probably be out first match in the knockouts or possibly we may go one better.
Two domestic cups, who knows. By that time we may have settled into some kind of team.
Haven't seen the highlights of yesterday. Were there any?

It won't surprise me in the least if we don't sign a striker. The announcement of Welbeck being back around Xmas seems designed to media manage that.

Here's a thought for you. Does the emphasis on what we've got plus youth suggest that the way is being paved for Arsene's successor and do the club and he/she know they are in for it already as it's an internal solution, or at least an old boy/girl.

I include the he/she as it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they did something radical at Arsene's suggestion.

Reasonably friendly Champions League draw but I'm sure we'll find a way to Arsenal it up.
PSG. Basel and Ludogrets.

...and hold the phone. Likely two new players. Mustafi and Perez (sorry Everton) Neither were first choices but not to be sniffed at either.

All we need now is for Holding and Chambers to survive the England call up.
Why can I hear an evil Big Sam chuckle somewhere.

I shall not sniff then!

His goal scoring record last season isn't quite what I was hoping for, but at least he's a striker, at the peak of his career.

If only Giroud having competition made him a better player. :(

An easy win vs Watford, good movement and Ozil's run which led to his goal was only matched by Sanchez' pass. Quite how they let him stand there for so long I don't know.

Looking at that side, The Ox is still making bad decisions, Walcott continues to look like a squad player, one of those is going to get benched when our new striker is match fit.
