I can see why that was given as a red, from some angles it looks like he went in with one foot first and not as bad, from others it looks like a straight red two footed challenge.

Not seen MOTD2, the match itself was stressful enough. I think moaning about Xhaka is warranted in this situation, it's a careless challenge to be making when you aren't under any pressure in the opponents half.

I think elbowing is difficult, if you are jumping for a ball it's a natural thing to do, so either you ban jumping with elbows or leave it as it is. :/

I imagine Arsene gets a one match ban for the sending off, and then extended to a second for not actually going off and shoving the fourth official. Hopefully that means he's back for Chelsea.

I don't disagree he needs to change his ways somewhat

The last time we were getting pelters from the media for our lack of discipline though we were winning stuff. Martin Keown actually said on MOTD2 that at times he thought they were trying to win the league with 10 men.
Give me the league trophy and I'll take the abuse and smile.

Take a look at the second time Mustafi gets one from Vokes.
That was deliberate.

Probably right about the length of Arsene's ban depending on how they view the shove. To me it was a bit more trying to turn his attention to the pitch rather than 'd'you want some then'

Sigh @ Xhaka if there is any truth in this he needs to get fined by the club to send a clear message:

No news on Wenger's touchline ban, though scaremongering newspapers are saying 3 games which means Chelsea.

I think they will, and should make an example of him, you can't lay a hand on a referee or other official, it's as simple as that,  if he gets away with it, it sets a bad precedent for any future incidents involving officals all the way down the football leagues.

Four match ban. Thought it would be three, not saying four is unfair though.

Kind of what was expected but it's been observed that Pardew got a two match ban for a similar offence and Terry got the same four matches for racial abuse, albeit with a bigger fine.
But then when has the FA ever been anything like consistent.

Looks like we mostly did. :) The younguns plus the second choice eleven plus the injury list.

Really solid defensively, every single player worked hard to give Southampton so little time on the ball, and the back four were really drilled to keep their shape.

Great to see Wellbeck back, Giroud's place is looking shakey all of a sudden.

Did we though. There were only really three that I would have said were younguns. Most of the others were potential first teamers, just not now for various reasons.
It's just we've finally got a squad with some depth.
Ospina did seem to be possessed by the ghost of Almunia for one brief spell but we got away with it.
Whilst Watford on Tuesday can obviously cause an upset you could pretty well say our season, in the league at least, hangs on the Chelsea match.
I'm a bit more hopeful this time without the hoodoo of moaning Mourinho.

EDIT: Just realised Watford are currently getting beaten by Millwall in the cup and they're playing us on Tuesday!
Great from our point of view but I can't help thinking a bit unfair on them.

Your reserves > our reserves

I went next door to watch it, last few Saints games have been surprising my good, but this was normal TV Saints, although saying that, it's nice to be beaten by a better team, rather than because we wasted chances.

At times it looked like you had more players than us, they certainly wanted it more.

First 2 goals were v good.
