"An average NFL game: more than 100 commercials and just 11 minutes of play"

It amazes me that it stops 4 times a game, but at 3hours for 11mins of action seems mental! (& no, I've never watched a game)
RE: Ever watched an NFL game? Read this....
a televised NBA game is on for 3 or 4 hours, but it's usually 4 * 12 min quaters, however, there are time outs, the clock actually stops when ball go out of play etc, so they can squeeze in another ad break between quaters and in America I guess in the long time outs.
RE: Ever watched an NFL game? Read this....
But over here we don't get the ad breaks.
Just two geezers going on and on and on about what we've just seen, are about to see, might see, saw last week/month/season.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

I think this is an often repeated article, whenever I argue with a friend of mine over it he always says that the tactics and discussion of tactics is a huge part of the game.

USA, Greatest Doggone Country In The World, Decimates France 82-0 In Game Of AMERICAN Football

I love America, it trounces France at a game that is hardly known outside of North America and proclaims its self the Greatest Country in the World, perhaps you ought to challenge France to a game of Rugby, its like American Football but for men. Rugby, a British game from which American football was formed is played in many more countries around the world than American Football, as is real football (socker as you call it) another British game that is played in every country on earth, when we use the term, World Series or World Cup, we actually mean the whole world, not just one or two countries. You are a great Nation but so are the French. Remember as well as Rugby and socker, Britain gave the world golf from Scotland, the rules of Boxing, table tennis, darts, netball, (basket ball) only played by girls in the rest of the world and of cause rounders, another girls game from where Baseball was formed. Perhaps America is not the greatest country on Earth after all, just another lovely country among many. God save the Queen"

The Film the NFL Doesn’t Want You to See

Quote:
Like every season, this year has brought us some amazing catches, breakthrough runs, and dramatic long-range field goals. But there was another kind of record hit this season: a destructive one, with an astounding 281 concussions from the NFL preseason until today, according to the league’s own aggregate statistics. That’s the most concussions since the NFL started keeping track six years ago.

Have you seen the film Concussion? Really interesting. The NFL tried ruthlessly to hide the problem. Think it's on Netflix if you've got it.

Much the same as amateur boxing I think there's a reasonably convincing argument that it's safer without the helmets.
