Olympics - the sporty bit..

Gutted for Cavendish today.
Watched it for nearly 6 hours so I deserved more!!
Wasn`t to be though.  As much as commentary tried to keep saying they must know exactly what they were doing - I just always felt they could do no more.  Without any help from anyone else those guys couldn`t lead (and protect!) the group all the time from there and still hope to have the energy at the end for a big push.  As Cavendish said post-race, there was no-one else who was gonna help them - but hey, that`s sport.  You know somebody`s strengths and do what you can to null them.  Of course no-one wanted to come up against him in the last K or two - so they`re not gonna want to do things that help put themselves in that position.
Incredible performances by his teammates - esp. having to go out and race next week.  Awesome!

I spent 25 mins listening to 5Live about half a hour ago & they were talking about the road race, running interviews with those who took part, & putting forward why team GB didn`t win.
But not once in that 25mins did they say who won Gold, Sliver & Bronze.
Yes I am sorry that the GB team did not win, but I would still like them to tell me who did.
I ended up going to the BBC website to find out who won

Well hopefully Adlington was really taking it easy for the last 50m+ today - scraped into tonight`s final in 8th place.
Fantastic race in the Women`s road race - way better and more exciting than the men`s..
Well done Lizzie Armitstead on a superb silver!
Really loving it all at the minute.  Women`s basketball last night and the men`s volleyball this morning.

the live streaming is working well to. I watched the first 1/2 of USA vs. France Men`s basketball on the pc, then missus went out so I watched the rest in HD on BBC Olympics 13 :)

Aren`t we supposed to have two people in the synchronized diving?

I can`t for the life of me figure out why Germany hardly helped GB in the road race. In André Greiple they have a sprinter that can beat Cav. But its pointless beating Cav for 30th place. They wanted GB to do all the work. But with reduced team sizes we didn`t the depth of strength to pull it back.

With there being an influx of new cycling fans its been interesting seeing if they can get that to win an individual gold you need a team who wont win anything. And probably the help of other teams. Is there another sport like that?

Well done to Lizzie in the woman`s race. They saw that a break could stay away on that run in and made sure they had someone in it. Just a shame she was up against Vos for the sprint.

Not sure if this should be in the sporty thread or not but if you can find a replay of Lord Sebastian Coe being interviewed by Steve Bunce on 5Live early last night about the boxing it`s worth a listen.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary
