Windows 10 update warning

Might want to hold off updating Windows this month, especially if you use a printer.

Blue screens of death ensue...

Ah.
Mine did an update before shutdown last night.
The first thing I notice is clicking on an emoticon for this just gives the description but no emoticon.
Is that connected.🤔
Probably not as it works with the onscreen keyboard ones.

I have 1909 so KB50000808 was the issue. Uninstalling now. This is why I hate W10 insisting on automatic updates.

Browser open, reading a Twitter post.
Bosh.
Everything off then a 'Power surge detected F1 to enter setup'.

Nope.
Restart
Which then gives me a blue screen with Windows is configuring your updates and the % countdown/up.

Now we're back up and running as normal.

So my more knowledgeable techy friends would a Windows update cause the initial off? Because in my whole Pooting life I have never had a power surge.

Your PSU might be on its way out. Is this a laptop or desktop? I forget!

Highly doubt it has anything to do with Windows update. Most likely coincidental.

My Windows updated today, without any power failures, so yeah, coincidence seems likely.

I don't know for sure, these are all guesses. It could have actually been a power surge and your motherboard protected you from it and your PSU was good enough to not do any damage.

Presumably you back up your data, in which case I guess just monitor it for strangeness.

There's that bogeyman phrase again.
It's an SSD with Win 10 on it and most everything is on a separate internal HDD so theoretically yes.
I've never found an easy press one button back up system and confess that a lot of 'back up' to me is like finding a black cat in a thick fog.
