bugger - this missus rarely uses her laptop now, just uses her phone for most things, buts she wants to sel some stuff, and has realised it easier to let dropbox put the photos on the computer and then edit them etc

anyway she logged a call about the laptop, and it's on 1803, lots of attempts failed to 1903 :( what a fun Sunday I'm going to have :(

used tool to do .iso, mounted it, now installing, wish me luck.

Btw several times whike it download iso, internet stopped working, had to switch router off, wait 2 mins and on again, maybe update can kill it which if happens during reboot stops update?

Doesn't make sense how do can kill router though

bah, at least I have a "useful" error to google now :(

sysprep is a worry - maybe the HP windows install as special stuff the update doesn't like :(

always shuts itself down at 48%, when it's rebooted a couple of times

looks liek I'll have to reinstall - it's working but won't go to latest no matter what I try :(

it's not used that much maybe the next update will work, wasted far too much time deleteing the temp stuff it downloads, running scandisks etc

I have heard of a few people struggling to update to lastest, but all of mine were fine. Not sure what specific hardware/software combination is causing it, probably neither is Microsoft. :/

Well, chanced my arm this morning (nothing else to do), and re-tried the update with a physical connection to my modem and it took first time.

great, i tried that, still didn't work, and now the laptop is gettng used more with the kids being home it's a problem:(

I guess for time being they'll just have to use switch user, and not switch off/log out/restart :(

may have to see if i can upgrade using insider iso, put on fast ring, see if something newer fixes it

edit it's trying to do 1909 now, fingers crossed
