Power off problem.

Can someone suggest where to even start looking on this one.

The reasonably new (18 months) windows 10 Desktop PC runs fine for even a few days on end but will then, without any key presses, just shutdown and restart.

With an SSD it's not even a hair tearing problem, if I had any, as it's back up and running in very short order.

Usually happens when Chrome is open but not on any suspect pages as it even happens on my homepage which is the Beeb's new page.

Is it downloading and updating then restarting?? If so probably to do with automatic update settings?

Is it doing bsod and restart? If so set it to not restart so you can make note of bsod err code, or look in event viewer to see what it says just before the message about starting from an improper shutdown.

If it just suddenly does it like someone high the button, then take apart and reseat everything, check if it's overheating, lots of crud on PSU fan, other fans etc.

Could be PSU on its way out.

An old Pentium desktop I had, had a similar problem, random reboots. Turned out to be a faulty RAM module. Worked just fine at most times, but once RAM filled up to that point, the machine would reboot.

That seems like the most likely as that's what it does.
I'll strip it down and give it a hoover out.
