Switching mobile networks by sending a text

Coming soon!

Quote:
Here's how it works: You request a code online, by text, or by calling your provider. You're then free to shop around and when you're ready to make the switch, you quote the code. Everything is transferred within one working day (including your number, should you wish to keep it.) There's no overlap — the system ensures your old and new contracts link up perfectly. Ofcom is abolishing "notice period" charges too, so it doesn't matter when you want to cancel (if you have outstanding fees, though, like a part-paid handset, they'll be quoted when you request the code.)

Compliance deadline for networks is July 2019!

When I went to Virgin from EE it was quick and painless like the above, and I don't remember having problems when I went to Orange from T-Mobile.

the above system sounds great, it will be perfect, like changing energy provider, where I had British Gas stealing money from me, I mean continuing to debit my account for 2 months after my switch date while the new provider correctly billed me, and eventually BG sent me a cheque after they cancelled the DD :( or the time before when I went from E-On to BG where the switch went fine, but it took months of communication for them to finally send me a cheque for the credit I was in :(

I hate how they send you a cheque!!!! It's not as if they don't know your bank details to pay you back in a way that's remotely easy for you.

Gas Utility switching really p***es me off. I started a switch last week and I’ve yet to be asked for my readings. It’s a British Gas to British Gas tariff switch too! (New build and the property has a standard BG tariff with developer)

I worked on the 7 day Current Account Switching Service the banks offer and that was one of the most expensive flips implemented by the FCA. Very poor takeup.

Re: Cheques; Faster Cheques should be available by Q2 2018. Take a photo of your cheque with your phone and get it processed in a day! None of this 2 days for interest to start accruing, 4 days to clear, 6 days to know it can't be recalled.
