.mkv file with no detectable video
I'm trying to convert a video that's in mkv format to MP4 so I can watch it via my TV/BD player, but apart from being able to view it in VLC player, any video converter software I have can't see the video and only detects the audio. I'm trying Handbrake but's going to take 3+ hours to convert a 2 hour video and even then I'm not 100% sure it's going to work
As far as I know I have all relevent codecs, and the most up to date MPC-HC doesn't play the video either
Any ideas?

You could try opening it with MediaInfo to display the technical details about the video stream.
This will help to analyse the problem.
RE: .mkv file with no detectable video
I think I'm good now. Handbrake converted the file ok, but I haven't yet tried to transfer it to another medium, purely due to the size of the finished file. But I'll try mediainfo anyway, just to save me wasting time and bandwidth in the future on futile exercises
