I remember when my brother first got an Amiga and he got this juggler demo showing how computers could now do 'ray tracing' - tracking each light path, just like in a real scene.

We were absolutely blown away that a home computer could do that.

Things are so bad now I'm hoping nVidia announce the 11 series and I can pre-order one before the prices leap up. :/ Then my friend pointed out that I'd be pre-ordering with 11 million bit coin miners, and wished me good luck. :/

If anyone's interested BBC Click has been doing a few bits on Movie visual effects over the last weeks. Latest one on Star Wars and ILM.
Just search them on YouTube or the whole progs available on iPlayer.
